Physiotherapy

Acute, hands-on treatment to accelerate healing and return you to play.

Get back to doing what you love

Sports injuries can affect your movement, strength and ability to stay active. Our physiotherapists provide hands-on treatment and targeted rehabilitation to help you recover and return to the activities and sports you enjoy.

We assess your injury, develop a treatment plan around your goals, and guide you through each stage of recovery.

Assessment, treatment, then exercise

We start with a detailed assessment: movement testing, strength assessment, and orthopaedic tests specific to your injury. Treatment then combines soft tissue work, joint mobilisation, and dry needling where clinically appropriate. Alongside the hands on work we prescribe specific exercises, because the manual therapy relieves the symptom and the exercise addresses what caused it.

How your appointments run

The first is a comprehensive assessment where we diagnose the injury and map out the treatment plan. Follow ups combine hands on treatment with exercise progression and a check on how the recovery is tracking. Most people come once or twice a week at the start and taper as they improve. Appointments run 30 to 45 minutes.

Injuries we commonly treat

We see ligament sprains and tears (ankle, knee), muscle strains (hamstring, quad, groin, calf), tendon injuries (Achilles, patellar, rotator cuff), shoulder dislocations and instability, and overuse conditions such as shin splints and ITB syndrome. We also offer pre season screening to catch injury risks before they become injuries.

Common Questions

For an acute or undiagnosed injury, start with a physio. We are trained in diagnosis and early stage treatment. Once the injury is identified and the acute phase is managed, our Exercise Physiology team takes over the longer term strength and conditioning work.

Not usually. Your physiotherapist can determine whether imaging is needed from the assessment and will refer you if it is.

Where this leads

Sports physio often hands over to our Exercise Physiology Sports Injuries program for later stage conditioning. If your injury requires surgery, our Post Surgical Rehab team is ready. Hydrotherapy is useful for early movement when weight bearing is restricted.
