What We See From Chatswood Clients
Desk-related neck, shoulder and back pain
Long days at a screen tighten the neck and unload the postural muscles. We treat the pain, then strengthen what is letting it return, and give you workstation changes that hold.
Running and gym injuries
Chatswood's parks, the Lane Cove walking tracks and the local gyms produce their share of knee, calf, Achilles and shoulder complaints. Our Physiotherapists diagnose, our Exercise Physiologists rebuild.
Post-surgical and chronic conditions
Joint replacements, chronic pain, diabetes and cardiac recovery all respond to structured physiotherapy and clinical exercise. iRehab runs both under one roof.
Older residents staying independent
Balance, strength and falls prevention for Chatswood's older residents, in clinic or at home. See our aged care physiotherapy.
Physiotherapy Chatswood NSW:
Two Professions, One Plan?
| Problem | Start with | Continue with |
|---|---|---|
| New injury, sharp pain Need a diagnosis | Physiotherapist | Exercise Physiologist for strengthening |
| Rehab after surgery | Physiotherapist (early phase) | Both, in sequence |
| Chronic condition (diabetes, COPD, heart disease) | Exercise Physiologist | Physiotherapist if pain flares |
| Falls risk, balance loss | Both (from day one) | Home exercise program |
What a Physiotherapy Session in Chatswood Actually Involves
People often book without knowing what they are booking. An initial appointment at iRehab runs longer than a follow-up because the assessment takes time, and it is hands-on from the first visit.
A typical session includes talking through the problem, movement and strength testing, manual treatment where it is indicated, and the first few exercises of your program taught properly rather than emailed to you afterwards. You wear clothing you can move in. Nothing about the session requires gym experience.
For desk-related neck and shoulder problems, which is the most common reason Chatswood clients call, the session usually also covers how you sit, where your screen sits, and which two or three changes are worth making at your workstation.
Where Do Chatswood Clients See Us?
In clinic, minutes away
iRehab North Rocks, 328-336 N Rocks Rd, North Rocks NSW 2151. Short drive from Chatswood via the M2 corridor, with on-site parking. Open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.
Mobile physio at your Chatswood home or office
Our mobile team covers Chatswood with Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists who bring resistance bands, portable equipment and the same clinical standards as the clinic. Ideal after surgery, with limited transport, or between meetings.
Telehealth
Can’t make either? Exercise and rehab reviews run by video too.
How Do You Get to iRehab From Chatswood?
By car. North Rocks Road is reached from Chatswood via the M2 corridor. There is on-site parking at the clinic, so you are not circling for a space the way you would around Victoria Avenue.
By public transport. Chatswood interchange serves the T1 North Shore line and the Sydney Metro. Public transport to North Rocks involves a change, and for many Chatswood clients the mobile service is the easier option than the trip.
If travel is the problem. This is the honest answer for a good number of Chatswood enquiries. If you have just had surgery, cannot drive, or are managing a parent’s appointments alongside your own, book a home or office visit instead and skip the journey entirely.

Medicare care plans
A GP Chronic Condition Management Plan gives you up to 5 Medicare-subsidised allied health visits per calendar year, covering physiotherapy and exercise physiology for conditions that have lasted six months or more. From 1 July 2025 this plan replaced the older EPC (Enhanced Primary Care) arrangement; existing plans remain valid to 30 June 2027.
NDIS, WorkCover, CTP and DVA
iRehab is a registered NDIS provider (4-3LLM-2259) and handles workers compensation, motor accident and DVA claims.
Private sessions are also available; if you hold private health extras, check your fund’s physiotherapy rebates.
Your First Appointment in Four Steps
- History. The full story of the problem, your health background, your goals.
- Assessment. Movement and strength testing; most diagnoses are made without imaging.
- Treatment. Hands-on work where indicated, first exercises prescribed the same day.
- Plan. Written program, session estimate, funding pathway confirmed.
What Should You Bring to Your First Visit?
- Your referral or care plan paperwork, if your GP has issued one.
- Imaging reports, if you have had a scan. The written report matters more than the images.
- Medicare card, NDIS plan details, DVA card or claim number, depending on your funding.
- A list of current medications.
- Clothing you can move in, and the shoes you wear most days.
For an office visit, tell us in advance whether you have a private room or a meeting room we can use for half an hour. For a home visit, a clear space about two metres square is enough.
NDIS
iRehab is a registered NDIS provider (4-3LLM-2259). Physiotherapy and exercise physiology can be funded under your plan.
Workers compensation (iCare NSW)
Workplace injuries and motor accidents are covered under NSW workers compensation and the CTP scheme. We handle the SIRA paperwork and recovery requests with your insurer.
DVA (Veterans Affairs)
Veterans with a Gold Card, or a White Card for accepted conditions, can access physiotherapy and exercise physiology through a GP referral under the DVA allied health treatment cycle.

Common Physiotherapy Questions in Chatswood
Yes, in a limited way. With a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan, Medicare subsidises up to 5 allied health visits per calendar year, and those visits can be physiotherapy or exercise physiology. Without a care plan, physiotherapy is privately funded in Australia. Source: Services Australia.
No. You can book directly for private treatment. A GP referral is needed when you are claiming through Medicare care plans, DVA or the NSW workers compensation scheme (for Exercise Physiologist sessions), and it helps us coordinate with your doctor.
Neither is better; the roles are different. Physiotherapists diagnose injuries and deliver hands-on treatment. Exercise Physiologists are ESSA accredited professionals who prescribe exercise for rehabilitation and chronic conditions. At iRehab the two work in sequence on the same plan.
Look for a registered physiotherapist who assesses you thoroughly before treating, explains a diagnosis in plain language, gives you a written plan and coordinates with your GP. Check Google reviews and whether the clinic accepts your funding pathway. iRehab offers both professions and every major funding type in one place.
