Sports Injuries

Exercise Physiology

Conditioning to rebuild strength and get you back to peak performance.

Get back to your sport, stronger than before

A sports injury is frustrating, but it is also a chance to rebuild your body properly. Our Exercise Physiologists handle the rehabilitation phase that comes after diagnosis and acute treatment, taking you from protected movement through to full return to sport conditioning.

The three phases of your return

We look at why the injury happened as well as the injury itself, assessing your movement patterns and identifying the imbalances and weaknesses behind it. From there the program runs in three phases. Early stage recovery focuses on pain free movement. The middle phase rebuilds strength and control. The final phase is return to sport conditioning, where sport specific drills test whether you are genuinely ready.

What to expect in the gym

Your first appointment covers a movement assessment plus a discussion of your sport, your training load, and how the injury happened. After that, your therapist takes you through each exercise in person, and we measure your progress against your baseline so the improvement is visible rather than assumed. Once or twice a week is typical, with exercises to complete on your own days.

Common injuries we treat

We see ACL and other ligament tears, hamstring and calf strains, rotator cuff and shoulder instability issues, Achilles and patellar tendinopathies, ankle sprains, and stress fractures. We work with weekend runners, competitive athletes, and everyone in between.

Common Questions

A physiotherapist focuses on diagnosis and early stage treatment including hands on therapy. An Exercise Physiologist takes over for the longer term rehabilitation phase: rebuilding strength, fixing the underlying movement patterns, and conditioning you for return to sport. Our EP and physio teams work together so you get the right care at the right time.

Being pain free is not the whole picture. We run return to sport testing that compares your strength, balance, and movement quality against expected norms for your sport. When you pass, you are ready.

Where this leads

If your injury requires surgery, our Post Surgical Rehab program picks up from there. Physiotherapy is available for hands on treatment during the acute phase, and Hydrotherapy can be a useful complement early on.
