Exercise Physiology for Aged Care - Supporting Strength, Mobility & Healthy Ageing

At iRehab, we provide personalised Exercise Physiology services for older adults, helping seniors maintain independence, reduce falls, manage chronic conditions, and enjoy a better quality of life.

Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) work closely with older Australians—whether they’re living at home, in retirement communities, or aged care facilities—to deliver safe, effective exercise programs designed specifically for ageing bodies.

Why Exercise Physiology Matters in Aged Care

As we age, staying active becomes essential for maintaining physical health, mental wellbeing, and overall independence. But not all exercise is created equal. Our AEPs are university-trained professionals who specialise in prescribing clinical, evidence-based exercise programs tailored to seniors and those with chronic conditions or mobility challenges.

How We Help Older Adults

We support older people to:

  • Improve balance, strength, and flexibility
  • Prevent falls and reduce fear of falling
  • Manage chronic conditions (arthritis, osteoporosis, diabetes, etc.)
  • Increase confidence with movement and mobility aids
  • Improve cardiovascular health and stamina
  • Maintain independence in daily activities
  • Manage pain and reduce stiffness
  • Recover after hospitalisation or surgery

We also provide guidance to family members and carers to ensure safe support and continued progress at home.

Who We Work With

Our Exercise Physiologists help seniors with:

  • Age-related mobility decline or frailty
  • Age-related conditions
  • Chronic conditions (e.g. arthritis, diabetes, heart disease)
  • Neurological conditions (e.g. Parkinson’s, stroke, dementia)
  • Falls history or falls risks
  • Recovery after joint replacement or injury
  • Post-hospital rehab or transitional care
  • Low confidence or reduced physical activity

Whether your goal is to stay active at home or safely move around your facility, we create a program that’s right for you.

Home & Facility-Based Services

We offer mobile visits for aged care patients who prefer or require therapy at home, in their aged care facility, or retirement community. We bring all equipment and tailor sessions to the client’s needs and environment.

We also work closely with aged care providers to deliver on-site group and one-on-one sessions that support resident wellbeing, meet care requirements, and align with accreditation standards.
